Sanctuary Safeguarding Services

Most acts of harm and abuse to a vulnerable adult or child are carried out by a person known to

them such as a teacher, professional worker, carer, family member or friend.

Sanctuary is an independent organisation providing a range of safeguarding and security

services to organisations and individuals who work with vulnerable adults and children.

We work with schools, nurseries, medical services, housing associations, care homes, charities,

colleges and universities, youth services, child minders, religious groups and home care services

to ensure that:

· Significant risks are identified and managed

· Staff are competent and confident in responding to suspected abuse or neglect

· Organisations maintain compliance with their regulatory authority and professional bodies

· Users of services and their family members are reassured and confident that they are

protected from harm and abuse

organisations who work with children and vulnerable adults.

Three-quarters (72%) of sexually abused children did not tell anyone about the abuse at the time.
27% told someone later.
Around a third (31%) still had not told anyone about their experience(s) by early adulthood.
